While there is a built-in monitor in the Blast Box, enabling the Sound Check mode is the only way to hear the audio actually being streamed to an end listener (what is available in the Blast Radio app vs the feed coming into the device).
Sound Check will help you pick up on potential troubleshooting issues - namely glitching or buffering sounds - that the monitor on the bottom of your device will not, as it’s only a monitor for your audio source.
Always do a Sound Check before going live in order to be confident with your levels as well as internet connection!
How to perform a Sound Check
- Go to the mobile app and tap the Broadcast icon. Then enable Sound Check.
- When Sound Check is enabled, connect your audio source to the box. If your audio source is on and you’re hooked up correctly, you should see line levels “jumping” on the LED screen.
- Press the red button on the device. You’ll see the word [Connecting] and then a countdown from 3. The time code will start counting, indicating that you’re broadcasting successfully. Enabling Sound Check mode on the mobile app before pressing the red button to go live on the device lets you do a broadcast only you can hear.
- Go to the mobile app. If you are doing an active Sound Check the Broadcast icon on the top right corner of the homepage will turn yellow. Tap the yellow Broadcast icon to listen to your Sound Check and confirm you sound good.
- Press the red button on the device again to end the Sound Check.
Note: Sound Check turns off automatically after one broadcast so you’re immediately ready to go live. If you wish to do another test, follow the steps above to enable it again.
